Review Process

Single Blind Review

Journal of Geography and Social Sciences (JGSS) follows a single-blind peer review process. Currently, JGSS follows Y category peer review process as per HEC guidelines. In this process, the reviewer identities are kept anonymous from the authors throughout the review process. However, the reviewers can see the author(s) details.

Step 1: Author(s) submit manuscript through Online Submission System.

Step 2: The editorial office conducts initial scrutiny for technical and ethical checks. All manuscripts are checked for compliance to the journal format and passing plagiarism test. If the manuscript fails to pass these checks, it is returned back to authors for correction and resubmission. If editorial office approves the manuscript, it is then sent to Editor-in-Chief.

Step 3: The Editor-in-Chief checks the quality of manuscript, if it does not meet the standard of the journal, it is rejected outright. Otherwise, if it passes the initial review of the Editor-in-Chief, then he assign an Editor who invites two reviewers for assessing the quality of the manuscript.

Step 4: The peer-review process starts. Both the appointed reviewers assess the quality of the manuscript. After completing review, they send their recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief.

The reviewers send the following recommendations to editors/editor-in-chief:

  • Accept as submitted
  • Accept with minor changes
  • Accept with major changes
  • Rejected

Step 5: The Editor-in-Chief assesses the recommendations submitted by both the reviewers. If revisions are required, the reviews are sent to the authors for amendments. Based on the reviewers’ comments the Editor-in-Chief takes a decision. Regarding, acceptance or rejection the Editor-in-Chief decision is final.

Step 6: If the manuscript is amended as per the recommendations of the reviewers. It is finally accepted for publication and sent to the production team for final preparing for publication.
